A study of 3,299 persons has shown that those with higher levels of vitamin D cut their risk of dying from cancer in half. (1) 

How much is enough? Most people don't even know what they're blood levels of Vitamin D3 are and just start taking vitamin d3. I always tell my patients, Test, Don't Guess!! I see many patients on a daily basis that are taking so many supplements and have no clue why or even if they are good to take. 

The so called "standard" that most patients say they "need" to take is 2,000 iu a day when that is well below the true standard. Again, if they are not testing they're blood on a regular basis you don't know how much vitamin d to take daily to begin with. 

Harvard medical says you need at least 1/2 hour a day in the sun (but that is rarely possible), so the next best is to take 5000ius a day for an adult if and ONLY IF your vitamin D3 levels are already between 60-80ngs.

The chart below shows an amazing study showing that individuals that fall within the "normal" range they have increased risk of most cancers, thats why we inform our patients to have a blood level at 70 or above to avoid ALL CANCERS!
